Salam guys and girls...I would like to write about my dad's house in Taman Angsana, Kulim Kedah that he bought 18 years ago thinking that he could get transferred to Kulim Kedah but no. Then he let the tenant (penyewa), who is as well a policeman stay there for RM 160 per month which is so cheap as my dad still charge the family with the same amount of money. I pity my dad since he is not making big money or getting any profit from the house but I know the house serves a noble duty to the tenants' family. It is rare to find houses for rent with that kind of rate nowadays and in fact, the tenant has 7 children living in a small terrace house.
My dad decided to refurbish the place as the termites are biting the house down especially on its wooden part. Some windows have gone missing and look at the old gate it is rusting! Mom told us that the house needs a major makeover before we could rent it to someone else with an expected higher rent to cover the expenses.
The house in Taman Mesra, Kupang, Kedah.
Then I suddenly remembered what my mother always told me when my siblings and I were still small; "Rumah kat Kulim untuk abang, rumah kat Baling untuk Kakak dengan Iwan". Though it won't ring a bell to anybody but deep inside I told myself not to fight over property with my siblings. Insyaallah...if I can afford things then I will get it myself and in fact, a house means nothing if there is no family living in it right? My siblings are still small and we need each other so if Allah wills it, please bless my parents and siblings with longevity, sustenance, baraqah and love. As the eldest in the family, I have to undertake great responsibilities including getting married and raise kids to sustain the generation. Friends in college always tease me, "Kau tu anak sulung, kena kahwin cepat sebab mak kau nak cucu dari kau!", then we would laugh for the joke but the truth is...I am scared and I am not ready.
